My First Time...

So they say your first time is the most memorable... well here we go!

If you're reading this... you're either a friend, or follower (Twitter of course) and you probably already know I'm a 7 year veteran of the News Media. I report on things like house fires... car accidents (like the one in Plano this morning) and even the occasional Rodeo.

But if you know me (...see second paragraph) then you know I have a real passion for sports. I'm a former athlete... played a little basketball, a little volleyball, a lot of softball, ran some track and cheered my high school and college on as the School's Mascot. (Kempner H.S. and University of North Texas Respectively.)

So needless to say, I've spent most of my life around fields and courts. So here I am now. I figured, "Hmmm, I go to every Mavs Game, I have plenty of thoughts, I may as well put them out in the universe!"

Tonight's game went a little like this. The Mavs have been plagued lately by their losses at home... a big problem for them has been their defense. So I figured, if they stepped that up tonight, we could do really well. That was not exactly the case in the first half. For the first half of the first quarter... the Mavs were having a hard time sinking a basket. At one point, the Mavs were down by 11. Talk about a downer!

But, in True Mavs fashion... the second half was a completely different story. At the top of the third, the score was Mavs 48, Thunder 55. That big lead shrunk quickly in the third. The entire second half, the two teams went back and forth, only giving up a couple points here and there.

Another big shocker for me... Damp's 4th quarter surge! Any Mavs fan knows... the big guy is not the best at the line. Well, he not only made a couple free throw shots, his blocking was on point! Defense was where it needed to be, and they were making the baskets, unlike the first half. Dirk and the boys were back in the game! Speaking of the tall German, he scored a whopping 32 points this game... that's 2 more than Durant's 30.

In the first half... the biggest cheer from the crowd came from some free J.J. Barea t-shirts. The second half... it was hard to find someone sitting down. I can say this much about the Mavericks, they know how to get the crowd hyped in the second half.... Final score Mavs 99, Thunder 98.

Oh... girlie thought of the night... the Mavs Dancers had some cute outfits on tonight!

  2. Welcome to the Blog World, Kim! It's addictive, AND a fantastic form of social media that compliments Facebook and Twitter very well. Been a fan/friend of yours on Facebook for quite a while, and we have enjoyed your work since "Hot On" here in Dallas!

Great first post, I look forward to keeping up with your reviews- If I can offer a suggestion, you should next set up a Facebook Fan page for your Blog to compliment your Facebook profile. Then, if you register your Blog with Networked Blogs, every time you post your blog feed will show up in your fans' Facebook News feeds automatically.

I know, clear as mud, right? ;-)

I've been doing this a while now, and part of an active group of DFW Bloggers. You will find all of us extremely supportive and helpful, we are a tight family! If I can help in any way, lemme know, good luck, and have fun!!
